Overall, the centre will enable R&D in Continental’s five main business areas – Autonomous Mobility, Architecture and Networking, Safety and Motion, Smart Mobility and User Experience. Among notable contributions from the centre, is the development of software for radar-based driver assistance systems (ADAS) and single-channel ABS systems that are widely used in smaller-capacity, commuter motorcycles. Continental says the teams at the technical centre are already working on the next-gen single-channel ABS system, which will have better performance and multiple traction modes.
Speaking on the inauguration, Prashanth Doreswamy, President and CEO, Continental India, said, “We have made significant investments here in the last few years, including greenfield manufacturing plants and the expansion of production lines for vehicle electronics for passenger cars and two-wheelers. Our new R&D campus represents yet another milestone in our growth.”

Techincal Centre will continue to have a larger role to play in Continental’s efforts to define the future of mobility, and our engineers play a key role in placing India on the global automotive R&D map.”
The 1 million sq ft campus is Continental’s largest R&D centre that caters to both its global and local markets. It is also home to the Global Software Centre for Excellence where advanced competencies such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Machine Learning and Cyber Security solutions are being developed. The division also participates in skilling, re-skilling and upskilling employees for a more software-centric future in the automotive industry.
